Swedish junior champion Linus Larsson has big dreams for his time with EF Education-Aevolo. At just 18 years old, his long-term goal is to graduate to the WorldTour, but for this first season with the team, he just wants to learn as much as he can and show that he can compete with the best U23s.

Linus started cycling after a trip to watch his brother race Sweden’s national championships. As soon as he got home, Linus headed out on the road on his bike, determined to get as fast as he could. He lined up for his first race before long and immediately fell in love with the speed and the adrenaline.

He is an explosive climber, who can burst up short, steep hills. As well as the Swedish championships, Linus rode to victories in one-day races like Lyngbyloppet and Giro Himledalen, and took a stage at St. Martinisprijs Juniors, before racing in the world championships for the first time.

He is studying economics in the north of Sweden, but escapes to warmer climes whenever he can.

Questions & Answers

How did you get into cycling?

My brother started and raced the national championships in 2014. I was there watching and thought it looked interesting. After that I also started.

Giro, Tour, or Vuelta? Why?

Tour. It’s the biggest race in the world and everyone knows about it.

What is your favourite word in your native language? What does it mean? What do you like about it?

Gnet. It's a cycling term that means to go a little bit too hard. Like right above or around LT1, so it’s just a bit uncomfortable.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?

Somewhere hot, because I have a hard time training when there is a lot of snow.

What is your favourite climb? What makes it special?

Col de Sa Batalla. I was in Mallorca with some friends and we lived really close to the climb. Therefore we did it a lot of times and I really enjoyed it.
