Greece lightning: EF Education-Aevolo set to make debut in Rhodes

We’re thrilled to announce that our new U23 team, EF Education-Aevolo, will officially debut this weekend

February 27, 2025

They will kick off their inaugural season in Greece with the Visit South Aegean Islands (March 1-2).

The two-day race sparks a Greek Odyssey for the team that includes the Rhodes GP (March 8) and the Tour of Rhodes Powered by Rodos Palace (March 13-16).

Almost the entire EF Education-Aevolo roster will have the chance to experience racing in Greece.

Team manager Mike Creed is excited to get the show on the road after the winter training camp in January, after a handful of our U23 riders raced alongside their WorldTour teammates as part of EF Education-EasyPost at the Challenge Mallorca in January.

“This is by far the strongest team I’ve ever directed,” Mike told us ahead of the race and after arriving in Greece earlier this week.

“We’re trying to keep the expectations for the riders at a reasonable level, but obviously, they’re really excited to start the U23 season. We’ve used the winter to build the team up, and the training has gone super well,” he added.

The first two-day stage race is held over rolling terrain, providing the EF Education-Aevolo riders with opportunities to race on the front foot and showcase the team’s brand new jersey. While Creed isn’t taking anything for granted, he is confident that the riders can be in the mix for a top result.

“We’ve got a talented team, and the potential to be in the hunt on both stages. Each day ends with an uphill finish, so we know that positioning and communication will be key, but our riders know each other well, and they’ve been working hard. No one is more excited than the riders ahead of the weekend. We have Colby Simmons as our main candidate for the finishes, but then Noah Hobbs will also have a free hand. Overall, we’ve got real depth,’" Mike added.

The rest of the team consists of Joshua Golliker, Kellen Caldwell, Ian López, Miguel Ángel Marín, and Jenthe Verstraete.

Additional riders will be swapped in-and-out for the remaining races in Greece.
