New rider alert: Tomos Pattinson joins EF Education-Aevolo
‘We’re going to spend the next year trying to help him find that sparkle and hopefully see him winning races,’ says Jonathan Vaughters

British all-rounder Tomos Pattinson has signed with our EF Education-Aevolo development team for 2026.
The 20-year-old, who grew up just a stone’s throw from Ben Healy and came through the ranks at the same junior team as our Tour de France star, is a former winner of the junior Liège-Bastogne-Liège and is a U23 British national time trial champion.
Tomos will join his new EF Education-Aevolo teammates in November at the team’s first off-season training camp in Spain, and he is already excited about wearing his new kit and creating a race program with his coaches and directors for next season.
“I’ve enjoyed my last two years at Visma, but when I found out that there was an opportunity to join EF Education-Aevolo, I felt that it was the ideal team for me,” Tomos said.
“The races that EF Education-Aevolo do and how they race, it’s just a team that suits me. From the outside, it’s clear that this team is positive and aggressive, with several excellent wins in 2025. Much of that aligns with how I prefer to race,” he added.
Tomos explored various cycling disciplines in his youth before focusing on the road scene as a junior. Originally from Dudley in England, he grew up near Ben Healy and got into the sport after encouragement and some local riding with his family. Although Tomos and Ben were separated by several years, they shared a notable connection, as Tomos raced on the same junior squad and attended the same school as Ben during his final years of education.
“Basically, Ben and I are from the same spot,” Tomos said.
“I think he grew up a couple of miles away from me. He’s older, obviously, so we never raced together, but I think we went to the same school as each other, and we both raced on Halesowen Athletics and Cycling Club as kids, but at different times,” he added.
Since focusing on the road, Tomos has become a rider capable of handling various styles of racing - from the punchy nature of the Ardennes to time trials across Europe and some of the more climber-friendly stage races.
“I’ve spent the last couple of years learning about myself as a rider, and I’m just looking to improve with EF Education-Aevolo. I’d say that I’m a bit of a punchy all-rounder, but I’m still improving and developing. I was the U23 national TT champion last year, and that came out of nowhere, but I’ve got a good kick from a smaller group, and I just want to make that next step,” he said.
Tomos also highlighted the development of Colby Simmons and Noah Hobbs as prime examples of how he aims to progress as a rider. Both Colby and Noah began the 2025 season with the EF Education-Aevolo squad before Colby transferred to the EF Education-EasyPost WorldTour team mid-way through the year. After a breakthrough 2025 and several victories, Noah is scheduled to join our WorldTour squad next season.
“I’ve seen riders like Colby and Noah come through the ranks, how they’ve developed and then stepped up into the WorldTour, and that’s been really inspiring for me. When I spoke to the team’s head of scouting, Sebastian Langeveld, that also gave me the confidence to join the team. He told me about the project and about how the environment would suit me,” Tomos said.
EF Pro Cycling CEO Jonathan Vaughters has always had an eye for talent and untapped potential, and the boss firmly believes that Tomos has all the essential credentials when it comes to making the next step in his career.
“With Tomos, the fact that he can do five-minute climbs really well right now is something that you can extend into longer efforts over time. He has won some really big races at junior and U23 level, and in the last couple of seasons, and I think coming to our team will allow Tomos and the team to uncover and expand that natural talent that he showed when he won Liège-Bastogne-Liège as a junior. We’re going to spend the next year trying to help him find that sparkle and hopefully see him winning races,” Vaughters said.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at camp Tomos and helping support your dreams on the road next season!
