Noah Hobbs wins stage three of the Volta ao Alentejo
Brit holds onto the GC leader’s jersey after sprint victory in Arraiolos
March 28, 2025
Noah Hobbs sprinted back for more on stage three of the Volta ao Alentejo.
After winning stage one with a strong uphill kick and coming second on stage two, the Brit burst to another bunch sprint victory on day three of the five-day Portuguese race. With his win, Noah earned 12 bonus seconds to firm up his lead on the general classification and will ride into the final two days of the race in the yellow jersey with a 12-second advantage in the overall competition. The vibes in the EF Education-Aevolo camper right now are immaculate.
“Every day just gets better and better,” Noah says. “It is important to have a good group of guys and everyone is chipping in and doing their bit. The race was harder today. It was pretty grippy all day, and I had the boys on the front. There was a pretty technical descent into the finale. We managed to get into good position and got into the last corner with 300 meters to go in fifth place and then I just went up the outside on the barriers. It was an uphill drag race to the line. It means a lot for me to pull it off and know that what the guys are doing is for a good cause. They know they can trust me to pull it off at the end of the day after all their hard work, and I'm very appreciative of that.”
Tomorrow will be a big test for Noah and his EF Education-Aevolo teammates with over 2000 meters of climbing en route as the race travels from Montforte to Castelo de Vide. Noah is climbing well and will go all in to defend his yellow jersey.
“I’m going to try,” he says. “I give it my best every time. It will be pretty lumpy tomorrow. I might have to get nursed over some climbs, but we've also got Jenthe pretty high up there on GC and he'll be able to go over them if I can't. But I'm going to keep pushing to see what I've got.”
That’s been working well so far, Noah. Good luck and get after it, squad!
